June’s HIV+ Eatery // Casey House

HIV cannot be transmitted through food or drink. Still, only half of Canadians would eat a meal prepared by someone living with HIV.

To challenge this stigma, we opened June’s, the world’s first HIV-positive eatery. Staffed entirely by HIV-positive volunteers and trained by chef Matt Basile, June’s turned fear into a shared experience.

The story was captured in a documentary by an Oscar-nominated director, premiering in cinemas before reaching a national audience on HBO Canada.
